Minimal Cross-Illumination
The Lumiplate is designed to provide uniform and accurate illumination using high-quality materials and technology.
-
Internal Cross Illumination: If the light channels are not completely separated, a leakage of light within the device itself may occur. This could lead to accidental illumination of neighboring wells. The Lumiplate addresses this by precision engineering using Swiss watch manufacturer components and a multilayer approch (patent pending) to ensure high accuracy and minimal internal cross illumination.
-
External Cross Illumination: After light leaves the device, cross illumination can still occur, especially on transparent well plates, so that optical well plates are essential. But even when using optical well plates, some light can pass through the glass bottom. This problem is exacerbated the larger this gap is. In cases with a very large gap the neighboring well is maybe directly illuminated leading to massive cross illumination. Learn how the Lumiplate avoids this problem (patent pending) and illuminates almost all brands effectively.
How to Test Cross Illumination
-
Internal Cross Illumination: Light a single LED and cover it with a cardboard or another light-blocking material. Check the neighboring wells for any signs of illumination.
-
External Cross Illumination: Place a well plate on the device, light a single well, and cover it with cardboard or another light-blocking material. Check the neighboring wells for any unintended illumination.
